A more eco-friendly wardrobe in 2011

Guest post written by Sarah Baugass

I'm one of the worst people that I know for buying things on a whim just because they're on sale. That goes double for clothing and accessories. But that means that I also get rid of a bunch of my clothes at a faster pace. i don't want to do that anymore because I'm trying to be more eco-friendly. It's important not to be wasteful and that goes with clothing too, so I'm applying my eco-friendly thinking to my wardrobe in 2011.

So I went online to try and find some tips to do that while I was looking up that stuff I found some information about and decided to Getclearwirelessinternet. I had been looking for a new internet provider for a while anyway so that worked out pretty well.

I guess this is one of the eco New Year's resolutions that people may not think about immediately, but I'm going to try and work really hard to achieve it. I may also start vintage shopping too instead of buying new stuff, which would give me some style that hardly anyone else has.

Special New Year's Eve wedding

The day has almost come for me that every little girl dreams about, my wedding. And believe me, just because you had something in mind planned out to have at your wedding doesn't make it easy to find it and get it arranged for you big day. I'm finding that out the hard way.

But I'm kind of relieved that I don't have to wait too many more days to get married and just reflect on how nicely everything came together. I was online e-mailing back and forth to my cousins, who are going to be my bridesmaids about what time they needed to get to the church to get ready when I came across the www.CLEARWIRELESSINTERNET.COM. I read through some of it and thought that it would be good to have our internet at our new house by that company, so I ordered one of the packages.

A lot of my friends are actually excited about the NYE wedding because they've never been to one before. I had a cousin who had one a few years back and that's where I got the idea, except mine will be better.

Happy New Year With Satellite TV

I appreciate the guest post, Jewel Rodgers

There is no question about it that my all time favorite New Year's Eve program is Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin Eve. It has been around nearly as long as I have but it is the best. There is just nothing like listening to all the music that I love. The excitement of watching all the entertainers gather together for this one night of celebration just makes me happy.

We watch Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin Eve with Ryan Seacrest now on satellite TV from cannonsatellite.com. We like to get ready for the ball to drop in Times Square. We don't just sit around and watch the programs while we wait but we do listen and keep an eye on what is going on. We have the program on in the living room and the kitchen so we can come and go the way we want to.

Most of the time we are watching while we play games like Scrabble or Uno, those are the ones the kids like the most. When the kids get sleepy they lay around on the couch sometimes dosing but they make sure to remind me to wake them up in time for the clock to tick down to midnight. We all jump up and down and hug and blow our noise makers and they call their friends to say Happy New Year.

Renovating? Test for Asbestos First

If you purchased a mid-century bungalow or Victorian manor, the sellers most likely signed a lead paint disclosure, or at least your agent educated you on the possible presence of lead paint. While the paint is dangerous to children if it flakes off and is ingested, it is relatively benign under a solid paint job. On the contrary, asbestos that was used in tile indeed poses a hazard if disturbed in any way. Home flippers frequently like to tear out old walls themselves and that is when they are most likely to come into contact with asbestos.

Mesothelioma, which is a type of cancer, comes directly from inhaling the substance. Tiny glass-like shards cling to the lining of the lungs. While some people do survive, the recovery is far from 100%.

In the United Kingdom, places of business are required to have an asbestos survey to locate possible risks. In fact, one theater that I had worked in years ago was shut down for awhile to mitigate the risk from falling and deteriorating tile. Home owners do not have to carry the burden of getting their house tested as it is not mandatory, but it is so important to elect an asbestos survey. If your home was built before 1990, it may contain toilet cisterns, weather proofing material, or asbestos plaster board. A home improvement project could have also incorporated leftover materials. Sometimes bans and code changes take awhile to trickle down. Perhaps a diligent contractor disposed of suspect materials, but if you used leftovers to patch a wall yourself later on, you could have used asbestos material.

An asbestos survey entails a specially trained individual visually inspecting the premises. Sometimes a visual inspection is all that is needed. However, if the visual inspection is inconclusive or damaged tile is present, a laboratory test may be necessary. While this may seem like a hassle, your family's health is of prime importance. While documented asbestos-related illnesses have been recorded as early as the 1920s, it is shocking to think that this material was only outlawed in the 90s and after the turn of the 21st century in some countries. If you are in the UK, the test is pretty standard. If you are in the United States or other international points, check with your local jurisdiction to find an asbestos tester.
