My Favorite Mini-Series: Band of Brothers

My absolute all-time favorite mini-series has to be Band of Brothers. I watched it on my satellite tv from direc4u.com, and its portrayal of a group of soldiers during World War II was incredibly sobering, yet still had some humorous moments. Based on the book titled "Band of Brothers" about the experiences of Easy Company, a group of soldiers in the United States Army in World War II, the producers of this mini-series aimed to be as historically truthful as possible. The mini-series followed the group of soldiers from basic training through other historically significant events in World War II such as the invasion of Normandy, Operation Market Garden, the Battle of Bastogne, and the end of the war.
What really made the series for me were the soldiers and their interactions with each other. The actors did an excellent job of portraying the bonding that happens among men at war, and you could really see how much these guys cared about each other. Major Richard Winters and Captain Lewis Nixon were my two favorite characters. They were best friends, they confided in each other, and they were good men in spite of their flaws. I also enjoyed finding out what happened to these men after the war and seeing the footage of those who were still alive at the time the mini-series aired.
