I appreciate this very thorough explaination. A good friend of mine condescendingly assured me that patent leather is fake leather and in no way could be actual leather. She wouldn't even believe the shoe salesman who explained to her the different parts of the shoe and that if it all (upper, lining and sole) was marked genuine leather, it is genuine leather. I love her, but God bless her ignorance sometimes...
