The Love of Hats

It's fedora day on ebay, thanks to our friends at Past Perfect Vintage, who are featuring some snappy fedoras in size 7 3/8 and 7 5/8.

Or if you prefer...

It reminds us of the post war, 1946 Disney Short of the tragic tale of love lost and loved regained as experienced by a fedora and a ladies sun bonnet who meet at a milliners. Peril strikes when the beautiful Alice is purchased by an elegant lady and leaves the store, and all she can do is wave goodbye with her ribbons. Johnny is eventually purchased too, and his life even takes another tragic turn when he is lost, ends up in the gutter, is witness to a shooting and is left battered and rumpled. Just as he think its the end, he is picked up and two holes are cut out of his crown, and he is placed on the head of a heart horse. When lo and behold, the hat on the other half of the team is Alice! The two happy hats are reunited forever. Nowadays, the shooting scene has been edited out as not being "politically correct."

At Left: Edwardian Straw Hat from Contentment Farms Antiques. It predates the tale by 30 years. Could this be Alice's mother? (Click individuals hats to view)
